The Comprehensive Oral Examination

Our Initial Examination is a source of great pride in our office, and is the result of years of practical and educational refinement.  Every aspect of your oral health system is evaluated in detail, including the condition of the muscles of your head and neck; your jaw joints; certain aspects of your eyes, ears, nose and throat; the hard and soft tissues of your oral cavity (including cancer screening); the orthopedic relationship between your upper and lower jaws; and many other criteria too numerous to list here.  Our evaluation of the teeth (individually and collectively) takes all these factors into account and allows us to know.

Not just what’s going on with teeth, but how the teeth got the way they are.

Following your exam, and after you leave the office, all of our findings are reviewed in detail by Dr. Sims and the clinical staff.  All aspects of your overall medical and dental condition are merged in order to determine possible cause-effect medical/dental relationships, and to determine your personal treatment requirements.

This level of diagnosis allows us to put together a treatment plan that is Preventive as well as Corrective.  Our goal is to help you reach the point where future dentistry can be minimized, if not eliminated altogether.
